An exemplary energy renovation and vertical expansion project
Located in a residential area in the heart of Lausanne, the Monribeau development exemplifies an ambitious, respectful approach to the environment, combining large-scale energy renovations and the creation of housing through vertical expansion.
Designed to meet Minergie standards, the project targets a 45% reduction in the building’s energy consumption as well as greater comfort for the residents, all while adding value to the existing portfolio.

This development has entailed numerous actions:
- Ensuring compliance with electrical and fire safety requirements
- Installing humidity-sensitive ventilation with heat recovery
- Insulating the façade, replacing the windows and upgrading the lifts/elevators
- Renovating the kitchens and bathrooms
- Creating additional housing units by means of vertical expansion
Accommodations to ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility were a special priority.
Finding and managing tenants
Besides directing the project, SPG provided rental management services, especially with regard to efficiently marketing the residential units and offering optimal service to new tenants.

A project initiated and managed by SPG
SPG initiated and managed the project, organising an architectural competition by invitation only and ultimately awarding contracts to the architectural studios of Burckhardt Architecture and a number of specialised engineering firms. The project exemplifies SPG’s expertise in all aspects of energy and environmental transformation, as well as in the development of complex real estate projects that tackle the challenges of urban regeneration.

Moving towards a responsible future in energy
The Monribeau development makes an active contribution to the energy transition of Lausanne’s housing inventory. It is based on structural choices aimed at moving away from fossil fuels towards sources of renewable energy:
- Connection to Lausanne’s remote heating network
- Production of green electricity through the use of photovoltaic panels
- Full overhaul of sanitary facilities and electrical systems for more sustainable management of resources
