Topping out Chemin des Palettes 14A

Posted 28 | 09 | 2020

In 2016, the Association Les Vernets d’Arve, whose mission is to provide affordable housing for low-income single women and single mothers, was awarded surface rights to a parcel of land located at Chemin des Palettes 14A in Lancy. With the assistance of the Asset Development Department at Société Privée de Gérance (SPG), the Association secured a building permit in 2018. The topping out ceremony, celebrating the completion of the major structural work on the new building, was held on 15 September. Here’s an overview of this important people-centric real estate development project.

The Association’s future building is part of an apartment complex with three different project owners. Piloted by the SPG Asset Development Department, specialising in the development of all different types of building projects (administrative activities, shopping centres, industrial spaces, villas, commonholds, cooperatives and rental apartments), the Association’s work was designed by the architectural firm Amaldi-Neder and executed by the Maulini construction company. The members of the Association’s construction committee, Sheila Buemi-Moore, Françoise Mongilardi and Khadidja Masker Bersenev, closely supervised the project.

The building, which has five floors, will be completed sometime between now and the end of 2021. It will comprise 29 low-rent apartments, each with two to four rooms. An underground parking garage will provide tenants with three parking spaces for cars and numerous spaces for bicycles. Finally, the building will meet the qualifications for THPE certification (for very high energy-efficient performance) in keeping with SPG’s strategy related to energy and the environment.

This new real estate development project is a beautiful way for the Association to celebrate its 60th anniversary! Since 1960, the year it was founded at the initiative of Dr Renée Girod, the Association has enabled 550 women to benefit from affordable housing.
