Foundation

Foundation of the Société Privée de Gérance (SPG) in Geneva by Jean Paul Barbier-Mueller.

SPG, which was soon to become one of the largest real estate management companies in the canton, originally specialised in the management of institutional rental real estate and in the construction of social buildings.

1970

Development

Progressive business development thanks to modern management methods, a strong local presence, controlled diversification and the acquisition of management companies.

In order to boost sales and rentals on behalf of its clients, SPG developed innovative communication tools.

1976

L'INFORMATION IMMOBILIÈRE MAGAZINE

A real business card for SPG with a circulation of 10,000 copies.

A real business card for SPG, L'INFORMATION IMMOBILIÈRE magazine was created, tackling current themes relating to the economy, politics, architecture, arts, travel and culture three times per year. L'INFORMATION IMMOBILIÈRE is today, with a circulation of more than 115,000 copies, among the leading publications in French-speaking Switzerland.

1988

GEOGRAPHICAL EXPANSION

The position of the two real estate management companies was consolidated in French-speaking Switzerland.

Acquisition by SPG of the leading Nyon real estate management company on the Côte Vaudoise, Rytz & Cie. The position of the two management companies was consolidated, giving a French-speaking dimension to the SPG group, which was becoming the reference in terms of property development and management in the Lake Geneva region. The first real estate service provider in French-speaking Switzerland to create its own website and offer its clients electronic document management (EDM), the SPG group also developped the innovative concept of a single and versatile manager.

1997

IMMORAMA

Release of first issue of IMMORAMA, a journal focused on real estate news, which is published twice a year and has a print run of nearly 250,000 copies.

2000

INTERNATIONAL NETWORKS AND GENERATIONAL TRANSITION

Establishment of partnerships with Cushman & Wakefield and Christie's International Real Estate, world leaders in commercial real estate and the high-end residential sector.

Jean Paul Barbier-Mueller withdrew from operations, but remained Honorary President. His son Thierry Barbier-Mueller became Administrator-delegate and CEO.

2012

LAUSANNE LOCATION

Opening of a Rytz & Cie branch in Lausanne, giving SPG influence over the entire Lake Geneva region.

2013

ENVIRONMENT & ENERGY

Creation of the Environment & Energy department, which supports clients who own SPG in monitoring and improving their energy performance.

2014

LITERARY PRIZE

Launch, by Thierry Barbier-Mueller, of the SPG Literary Prize for the first French-speaking novel, which rewards a first work of fiction by an author from French-speaking Switzerland, written in French and published by a Swiss publishing house.

2017

SUSTAINABILITY

Enhancement of the training field and reduction of energy dependence of the real estate portfolio under management.

A department dedicated to questions related to sustainable development has been created: Environnement et Énergie.

The Condominium ownership (PPE) portfolio under management of the SPG-Rytz Group was consolidated with the takeover of the management of co-ownerships from CGI Immobilier.

2020

SPG ONE – PRORENOVA

SPG continued its strategy as a global and specialised real estate advisor, by creating two companies.

SPG ONE SA, affiliated with Christie’s International Real Estate for French-speaking Switzerland and Gstaad, is dedicated exclusively to prestigious real estate.

Creation of a company specialising in the management of renovation, energy renovation or elevation work: Prorenova SA.

2022

LVX MAGAZINE

With a circulation of 15,000 copies, the LVX magazine, produced in collaboration with SPG One, partner of Christie's International Real Estate, is published twice a year, focusing on art, architecture, watchmaking and gastronomy, but also on styles and technologies.

2023

GENERATIONAL TRANSITION

Respectively members of the Management Committee since 2018 and 2019, Marie and Valentine Barbier-Mueller took over the co-General Management of the Group, after having worked for more than five years alongside their father, Thierry Barbier-Mueller.

2024

CONSOLIDATION

The SPG group is consolidating its presence in Geneva, Nyon and Lausanne. The Group's Vaud agencies, historically operating under the Rytz & Cie brand, are taking the name SPG.
